Gene – A gene is the molecular unit of heredity of a living organism. It is used extensively by the scientific community as a name given to some stretches of deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA) and ribonucleic acids (RNA) that code for a polypeptide or for an RNA chain that has a function in the organism. Living beings depend on genes, as they specify all proteins and functional RNA chains. Genes hold the information to build and maintain an organism’s cells and pass genetic traits to offspring.

◾You are a tomato farmer whose crops are threatened by a persistent species of beetle. Each year, you spend large sums of money for pesticides to protect your crops. A biotechnology company introduces a new strain of tomato plant that produces a natural pesticide, making it resistant to the beetle. By switching to this new strain, you could avoid both the beetle and the chemical pesticides traditionally needed to fight it.

◾As a family physician, you often treat children who suffer from infectious diseases that could easily be prevented through vaccination. But the parents of many of your patients cannot afford the cost of vaccinations. You hear of a new approach that would reduce the cost to a fraction of its current price: genetically modified fruits and vegetables that contain various vaccines. By simply eating a banana, a child could be protected against disease—without getting a shot!

◾You are the leader of a developing nation. Hunger is a problem among your citizens: the salty coastal wetlands of your country can’t support the growth of needed crops, and your slow economy can’t support importing enough food for everyone. A biotechnology company has genetically modified a rice plant that can thrive in salt water, providing your nation with the opportunity to feed its citizens while bolstering its economy.

As you can see what the Utah education website had to say about what a modified food can do to the body. “By simply eating a banana, a child could be protected against disease—without getting a shot!” That’s just by eating a banana. What if someone eats more than the average person? What if Aunt Nana likes to eat her banana splits more than just once a day? What is happening in the body when we are consuming these foods?


Technology now allows us to transfer genes between organisms. For example, the tomato plant’s beetle resistance relies on a gene from a bacterium (Bacillus thuringiensis), which scientists inserted into the tomato plant’s genome. This gene, called cry1Ac, encodes a protein that is poisonous to certain types of insects, including the beetle.

Bacillus thuringiensis (or Bt) is a Gram-positive, soil-dwelling bacterium, commonly used as a biological pesticide. B. thuringiensis also occurs naturally in the gut of caterpillars of various types of moths and butterflies, as well on leaf surfaces, aquatic environments, animal feces, insect-rich environments, and flour mills and grain-storage facilities.[1][2]

During sporulation, many Bt strains produce crystal proteins (proteinaceous inclusions), called δ-endotoxins, that have insecticidal action. This has led to their use as insecticides, and more recently to genetically modified crops using Bt genes. Many crystal-producing Bt strains, though, do not have insecticidal properties.


– B.t. is of low threat to humans because it does not persist in the digestive tracts of mammals. Classified as “slightly toxic,” the most common side-effects are skin and eye irritation.

Allergens trigger 75 percent of asthma cases:

Allergenicity is of particular concern because approximately 75 percent of asthma cases are triggered by allergens [9] and illnesses and deaths due to asthma have rocketed in recent years. Asthma deaths tripled in the United States from 1 674 in 1977 to 5 438 in 1998. The costs of asthma doubled from $6.2 billion in 1990 to $12.7 billion in 2000 [10].

Bt crops were first introduced in the United States in 1996, and have expanded substantially in acreage since, with little or no further research on the toxicity or allergenicity of the Cry proteins released in greater and greater abundance into the environment. Limited studies carried out by a research team in Cuba showed that Cry1Ac is a powerful immunogen, and when fed to mice, induced antibody responses similar to those obtained with the cholera toxin. Furthermore, Cry1Ac actively binds to the inner surface of the mouse small intestine, especially to the ‘brush border’ membranes on the cells lining the small intestine [11].

It has also been shown that all the Cry proteins in Bt crops have amino acid sequence similarities to known allergens [12-14], and are hence potential allergens.

A woman exposed to an B.t.k. formulation as a result of drift went to the hospital due to burning, itching-and swelling of her face and upper chest. She later exhibited a fever, altered consciousness, and suffered seizures.24 No B.t. was cultured from tissue samples, but her doctor believed that B.t. was the cause of the clinical symptoms.25

Low threat to humans, slightly toxic. That’s just from a tomato, which is supposed to be good for you.

In another example, milk from cows injected with a genetically engineered growth hormone was found by a number of researchers, including those published in the journal Lancet, to have substantially higher levels of a compound known as insulin-like growth factor-1, which is linked to human breast, colon and prostate cancers. The milk also has higher levels of bovine growth hormones in it, along with pus and sometimes antibiotics. GM crops have been linked to health problems as diverse as reproductive damage, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes. Concerned scientists have been outspoken about these risks.’

I shouldn’t have read these articles. I have a burger on the frying pan right now, waiting to be flipped, then lightly padded with some tomatoes. The bad thing about these is that I can’t tell if the meat I’m eating was from a cow that was eating these genetically modified food, the same also goes to the fruits and vegetables I consume every day. Are they labeled?


Time will tell, if this food we eat is good for us. Or, maybe there are cases around the world right now, but we are not paying any attention. Maybe there are things that are happening in our bodies that we can’t yet notice…… But, until then, I’m going to go enjoy this genetically modified Cheese Burger, and look around youtube for some more info. I finished my food and then watched a video that I found on youtube. Titled ‘Seeds of Death’. It was Interesting, I used to brush off these type of videos before. There’s a guy at 56 min named Bruce Lipton, who talks about the RNA in food and in our own cells. I used to think that the body only takes what it needs from the foods we consume, then expels the rest. But, there is a lot more than that.

With our understanding of Evo gynetics, the new science of how environment signals control our genes. We’re introducing into the chemistry of where do the signals come from that select the genes that modify our genetic activity? Well, we used to say everything is due to the genes. But, now we find there’s a class of molecules called micro RNA. Their very small micro RNA molecules and they are found in all the cells. And these micro RNA molecules are molecules that adjust the reading of our genes, well a new understanding have been found on micro RNA molecules. When we eat food, the micro RNA from the food is picked up by the digestive system and not broken down. The micro RNA is taken in into our own body in tacked. And now what they found is the micro RNA from food ends up in our own cells, our liver and other cells in our body. These micro RNA’s still have the same function. They change our genetics and they change our read out of our Genome. And the significance is profound. It says when you eat genetically modified foods, we are eating a new class of micro RNA’s that never really have been in the world before. And yet these micro RNA’s are picked up by our biology and adjust our own genetics. So, in a sense the old story “We are what we eat” actually now has a biochemical foundation.


Holiday muscle

Winter is just around the corner and that’s the time people start gaining that unwanted weight. You know, the one that looks like you’re carrying a spare tire around your waist.


Instead of having that, I decided to start weight training, so I can steer away from the stress of carrying around that extra luggage. Yes, I do not really like working out, there is too much sweat and hard work that is involved. But, in the end all that hard work will surely pay off. Plus, the confidence of walking around with a fruit of the loom underwear after a good Christmas dinner. I searched around and found some information to get the best out of my work outs.

Time under tension, muscle confusion, and do a set using your bigger groups such as Chest (bench press) or Legs (squat) before working on smaller muscle groups, is a key to maximizing those muscle building hormones.

How to get Muscle Fast: Top 5 Muscle Building Compound Exercises

Bench Press

The bench press is a great compound muscle building exercise that develops the pectoral muscles as well as the triceps and shoulders.

Dead lift

The dead lift is such a great muscle building exercise but you hardly see any guys performing the dead lift regularly. The dead lift will work your lower back and your hamstrings. You will be able to go very heavy on the dead lift, and this is a great exercise for increasing your anabolic hormones.


The squat is another exercise that a lot of guys are afraid to perform regularly. If you want to maximize your muscle building hormones you need to lift really heavy with your legs on a consistent basis. The squat is a great lower body exercise that will help you get muscle fast.

Pull up

Just like the weighted pull up, the weighted dip is another advanced variation to this traditional exercise. The dip will help you sculpt and define your chest from a different angle as well as promote triceps strength. Use a weight belt and throw on a 45 lb weight plate for an advanced variation of the dip.

Calories and proteins

Start counting your calories and protein.

First, figure out how many calories you will need to start with on your quest for gaining muscle mass. An easy way to estimate this will be multiplying your total body weight in pounds by 15-17 calories.

So, our 170 pound male would be shooting for a daily calorie intake of 2550 – 2890. Then, if you find you are not gaining any weight at an appreciable rate after a couple of weeks, bump this up by about 10% more.

Of these calories, you should be aiming for at least one gram of protein per pound of body weight (170 grams for our example).

When bulking, aim for at least 100 grams of carbs per day (in addition to ones to support training) to stay out of ketosis (which can make it harder to add muscle)


Why do we constantly have thoughts about things that doesn’t really concern our everyday lives? Like, news from other countries, from other towns, people that we don’t associate with, other planets, past lives, and theories. Is it that hard for us to just live our lives today, and try to make a better future for us? Sure some things are interesting, but we shouldn’t consume most of our times on those things. People even go to school to be a part of the things that are not going to help their everyday lives. Yes, they do get paid for it, but, what good does it really do for them?

‘Hey, we found a planet 50 billion light years from earth’ Right on, but so what? How are you going to benefit from that finding?

Time Travel

Time traveling, is it physically possible? I’m not talking about traveling in a great speed, then seeing your watch having a fraction of a difference with another person’s watch, when you exit your vehicle. I’m talking about going back in time to admire what has already happened, and also going to the future to see what will be. I for one wouldn’t mind going back and seeing a lot of things, that I just want to know. The first would be How many times have the human race rose from the stone age, to where we are now, then fell back again? Or go back and give handouts of ideas to myself a few years back. Maybe patent the Rubik’s cube, then not allow anyone to make them, because it bugs the crap out of me.

Sectioned time is a figment of imagination since quantum time is block time where the future can influence the present .Quantum physics sees time as an intrinsic variable and not extrinsic as in relativistic physics. Time and destiny and indeterminism are a consequence of the rationality principle in universe. Earnst Mach has succinctly termed it as the global influence on the local due to interrelatedness inherent in nature. That is so because as Spinoza argued there is a logical inevitability for a singular substance in universe, which also implies rationality and destiny. Time is how destiny expresses itself in everyday life and concourse of events, given the fabric of space. Space is itself due to the presence of matter in it. The ancient Indian metaphysical concept of Brahma and Karma summarises it all. Time is circular since it encompasses matter and that has its limitations. We see time as linear due to logical and sensory limitations. At a certain level of consciousness time ceases to exist.

If time is just an illusion and a figment of our imagination, wouldn’t that mean that going back to see the people put that last stone on the pyramid in our physical form be impossible?

There are a couple ways that people think might work. Worm hole theory, and using your mind to go back and forth from past and future. Using your mind – Remote Viewing, astral projection, meditating. I was listening to Coast to Coast am a while back and heard this person saying that she changed something from her past, just by using her thoughts. I wonder if it’s really possible. Well, you can’t really say ‘no, it’s not’ until you’ve tried it. But, I don’t know if I have the patients to try it, maybe someday.

I haven’t watched this video yet about John Titor, who apparently is from 2037. This was aired in 3/12/2002 on Coast to Coast am with Art Bell Worm Holes – Some people think it could be possible to use worm holes to travel through time, but, where are you going to find one? There was this one man, who might have went through one. It wasn’t really time traveling, more like ripping through time. Traveled from A to B in a matter of minutes. If you did manage to go back using your mind and changed something, would you talk about it? I would probably keep it to myself, if I had the patients to try any of the two. Delirium tremens and spirits?

Why do people experience Delirium Tremens after a long alcohol binge?

It’s always a horrific event from what I experienced and read online. Thoughts of impending doom, people talking to you that are not physically there, and they try to make you do what they want. Fiber like hair coming out from all over your skin, which you can actually feel.

“ is theorized that delirium tremens is caused by the effect of alcohol on GABA receptors. Constant consumption of alcoholic beverages (and the consequent chronic sedation) causes a counterregulatory response in the brain in attempt to regain homeostasis.

This causes downregulation of these receptors, as well as an up-regulation in the production of excitatory neurotransmitters, primarily glutamate, and also such as norepinephrine, dopamine, epinephrine, and serotonin, all of which further the drinker’s tolerance to alcohol. When alcohol is no longer consumed, these down-regulated GABAA receptor complexes are so insensitive to GABA that the typical amount of GABA produced has little effect; compounded with the fact that GABA normally inhibits action potential formation, there are not as many receptors for GABA to bind to — meaning that sympathetic activation is unopposed. This is also known as an “adrenergic storm”; the effects of which can include (but are not limited to) tachycardia, hypertension, fever, sleep hyperhidrosis, hyperreflexia, diaphoresis, heart attack, cardiac arrhythmia, stroke, anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, and agitation.

This is all made worse by excitatory neurotransmitter up-regulation, so not only is sympathetic nervous system over-activity unopposed by GABA, there is also more of the serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, epinephrine, and particularly glutamate. Excitory NMDA receptors are also up-regulated, contributing to the delirium and neurotoxicity (by excitotoxicity) of withdrawal. That was taken from the Wikipedia. It theorises what happens in the brain, but, why do people get those thoughts, and why do they see things?

I was looking at the spiritual effects of alcohol and I found this online.

In the website they explain that while drinking alcohol, we are more likely to lose control over our mind and intellect. Negative energies take advantage of this loss of control and infiltrate our consciousness. When people drink alcohol on a regular basis, they increase the chances of their being possessed.

Our energy levels after a long binge with lack of sleep and food would be very low. Quitting suddenly then starts your brain function to be erratic “adrenergic storm”. Voices are heard around you, thinking it’s in the other room or outside. Visions of other people that are not there, that will not stop following you. Believing in everything that they say to be true.

I looked online to find an explanation as to why people see other beings when they experience this ‘Delirium tremens’, I found something similar to it ‘Shadow People’. There is a lot of videos on youtube about that strange phenomenon. Is it this ‘adrenergic storm’ that happens in your brain that triggers your mind to see these spirits around us? It is a strange world that we live in. Or is it all made up in our heads?

Sunday Ice Fishing

Woke up at 12 today ate my breakfast (two eggs, two toast) I also had my usual extra strong coffee. After that my Dad, Brother Alex and I got ready for some Ice fishing. It was a pretty nice day we checked the vehicles thermometer on the way to Deep Bay and it was minus 21. It seemed a lot warmer than that. But at the end of the day my toes were starting to get cold.

Repair the body by Fasting

During a fast energy is diverted away from the digestive system due to its lack of use and towards the metabolism and immune system. The healing process during a fast is precipitated by the body’s search for energy sources. Abnormal growths within the body, tumours and the like, do not have the full support of the body’s supplies and therefore are more susceptible to autolysis. Furthermore, “production of protein for replacement of damaged cells (protein synthesis) occurs more efficiently because fewer ‘mistakes’ are made by the DNA/RNA genetic controls which govern this process.” A higher efficiency in protein synthesis results in healthier cells, tissues and organs. This is one reason that animals stop eating when they are wounded, and why humans lose hunger during influenza. Hunger has been proven absent in illnesses such as gastritis, tonsillitis and colds. Therefore, when one is fasting, the person is consciously diverting energy from the digestive system to the immune system.

In addition, there is a reduction in core body temperature. This is a direct result of the slower metabolic rate and general bodily functions. Following a drop in blood sugar level and using the reserves of glucose found in liver glycogen, the basal metabolic rate (BMR) is reduced in order to conserve as much energy within the body as can be provided. Growth hormones are also released during a fast, due to the greater efficiency in hormone production.

Finally, the most scientifically proven advantage to fasting is the feeling of rejuvenation and extended life expectancy. Part of this phenomenon is caused by a number of the benefits mentioned above. A slower metabolic rate, more efficient protein production, an improved immune system, and the increased production of hormones contributes to this long-term benefit of fasting. In addition to the Human Growth Hormone that is released more frequently during a fast, an anti-aging hormone is also produced more efficiently. “The only reliable way to extend the lifespan of a mammal is under-nutrition without malnutrition.” A study was performed on earthworms that demonstrated the extension of life due to fasting. The experiment was performed in the 1930s by isolating one worm and putting it on a cycle of fasting and feeding. The isolated worm outlasted its relatives by 19 generations, while still maintaining its youthful physiological traits. The worm was able to survive on its own tissue for months. Once the size of the worm began to decrease, the scientists would resume feeding it at which point it showed great vigour and energy. “The life-span extension of these worms was the equivalent of keeping a man alive for 600 to 700 years.”

In conclusion, it seems that there are many reasons to consider fasting as a benefit to one’s health. The body rids itself of the toxins that have built up in our fat stores throughout the years. The body heals itself, repairs all the damaged organs during a fast. And finally there is good evidence to show that regulated fasting contributes to longer life.
